Bone and Joint Regenerative Medicine Symposium

Denver, Colorado

Regenerative medicine continues to emerge as a significant force for healing and repair.  Bone and joint applications are at the forefront of this exciting new field.  The harvest and use of bone marrow and fat derived stem cells, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and recombinant growth factors such as rhBMP-2 have already benefited hundreds of thousands of patients, reduced the need for major surgery, reduced patient morbidity, and have shown cost saving.

This symposium has recruited those scientific surgeons who have pioneered this field and have a proven track record of success.  The symposium will begin with an informal “Meet the Experts” in the afternoon preceding the formal course allowing attendees to discuss their own patient needs and questions.  The formal lectures on Day 1 one will focus on the history and scientific data related to the regeneration of bones and joints as it applies to the two specialties that deal with bone and joint diseases and defects: orthopedics and oral and maxillofacial surgeons.  Each will discuss and include how regenerative medicine is used in clinical applications.

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Its Treatment

Robert E. Marx, DDS, and Diane Stern, DDS

Case-based learning is an effective and stimulating method to increase your knowledge base and prepare for examinations. This volume, “Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Its Treatment,” features 100 questions derived from actual cases that will test and improve your knowledge in oral and maxillofacial pathology and its treatment. The questions in this series cover topics that span the entire spectrum of oral and maxillofacial pathology, including oral cancer, odontogenic cysts and tumors, fibro-osseous diseases, salivary gland pathologies, and much more. Each item in the test is formatted as a brief description, often accompanied by a clinical photograph, radiograph, computed tomography scan, and/or laboratory value, followed by a succinct question. In most cases, the question is followed by four multiple-choice answers, of which only one is correct. A unique feature of the program is that it not only gives the correct answer, but each answer concludes with a comprehensive discussion of why it is correct and why the other options can be ruled out. Both the answers and these explanations are located in a separate file so that the test can be used both as an actual examination and as an educational tool. Also included are several “matching” questions that challenge the reader to coordinate and compare clinical, radiographic, and histopathology findings.

This test is designed for practitioners and students who wish to increase their knowledge, improve their clinical practice, and/or prepare for board examinations.
